Franco Fagioli returns to Opéra National du Rhin to star as Aci in a new production of Nicola Porpora’s Polifemo. The French premiere showcases a new production by Bruno Ravella, with costume designs by Annemarie Woods and lighting by D.M. Wood.

Fagioli made his role debut as Aci last season, garnering acclaim from critics, saying, “[he] impressed in these two feats that Farinelli had to perform. Beautifully subdued in the first and full of bravado in the second. Fagioli has a very powerful voice, which of all countertenors reminds me most of the only castrato who ever recorded anything, the Italian Alessandro Moreschi.”(Place de l’Opera)

Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Le Concert d’Astrée and a top-notch cast, including Madison Nonoa as Galatea, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Delphine Galou as Calipso, Jose Coca Loza as Polifemo, Alysia Hanshaw as Nerea.
