Gluck: Orfeo ed Euridice

DG/Archiv releases a new recording of Gluck’s Orfeo et Euridice with an all-star cast featuring countertenor Franco Fagioli in the title role. Conductor Laurence Equilbey leads a period instrument performance of the 1762 Vienna version of the score. The album also includes extra music written by Gluck for later performances. Of Fagioli’s performances, the Münchner Merkur exclaims, “Cecilia Bartoli 2.0 . Impressive virtuosity.”.
